Dear Parents

The 2020 School ATHLETICS CARNIVAL will be held on Friday 31 July at the Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen
(Week 2 Term 3).

ALL children will be required to travel to the venue by bus with the whole school. The bus will leave school at 9.15am and return at 2.30pm.

Should you wish to take your child home at the conclusion of the carnival (expected time is 2pm) please indicate on the Google form below. This will be a kiss n’ ride process at the Academy of Sport, Narrabeen (similar to our school process). If you attend to pick up your child please arrive at 1:45pm sharp for pick up. The buses will be leaving at 2pm sharp with all remaining students returning to school (including students who have not been picked up).

This years carnival will run differently due to Covid 19 restrictions. The usual follow up cluster and Diocesan representative carnivals have already been cancelled as per NSW regulations. Therefore our carnival will take the form of a fun sporting event, an opportunity for all children to actively participate.

PARENTS ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND AS A SPECTATOR OR OFFICIAL VOLUNTEER.
This is unfortunate but is in adherence to NSW and CSO restrictions currently in place.

All students will participate in a variety of running, relays, modified field events as well as novelty events.

5, 6, 7 YEAR OLDS: will compete in the track in the 70m and 100m

8, 9, 10, 11, 12 YEAR OLDS:
100m – run in separate age groups and gender
200m and 800m – run as Junior (under 8, 9 and 10’s); 11 years and 12 years

FIELD EVENTS: TBC. Based on time and in alignment with restrictions. Please note field events are grouped into Junior (under 8, 9 and 10’s); 11 years and 12 Years.

PERMISSION:  Please submit the Google form no later than WEDNESDAY 29 July, 2020 (Week 2 Term 3).  Please complete and submit individual forms for each child

If your 4 or 5-year-old has been unable to attend preschool over the last couple of months, you may be concerned that they are missing out on developing some of the key skills needed to start school. Starting kindergarten is a new adventure for you and your child.  It is important that they are excited and proud to walk through the classroom door, ready to take their place in the ‘big kids’ school.

The Catholic Schools Office of Broken Bay has developed a range of resources featuring some helpful tips to assist you in preparing your child at home for kindergarten. Our Getting Ready booklet outlines a range of learning tools, each supported by an educational video, that will assist in helping to develop the necessary skills in your child to ensure a successful start to their schooling. To see our school readiness video tools please click here.

To receive your FREE getting ready bag including booklet and other fun activities please contact our school office on 9913 3766 to arrange collection. Appointments for collection are required during COVID 19 restrictions.

If you have not already enrolled for 2021, and your child is ready for school, we’d love to welcome you to take a look around St Joseph’s Primary School, Narrabeen, a popular school choice for local families.

Following the relaxation of restrictions due to COVID-19, Bishop Anthony Randazzo welcomes all our students, teachers and staff back to school this week after a period of home-based learning.
